4. The Keys
To find the nine numbers, look in the book for things that occur nine times. Several distinct things in the book occur nine times and can easily be translated into numbers. Not all of these occurrences will lead to the correct nine numbers.
Because the correct numbers occur 3 times, you will know that you are on the right track when you come up with the same nine numbers 2 or 3 different ways.

3.The Order of the Numbers
The numbers are never presented in the correct order. When carefully considered, the code in one of the keys will reveal the correct order for the nine numbers.
Which key? To determine this you must first find the hidden message on the page facing Before the Storm (the Calm).
Next, look for a verse with two hidden messages, one in grey and the other in red. Discard the red message, it is a distraction. The message in grey is the one that matters. Together, these messages tells you what’s needed to know to put the numbers in the correct order.

2. “The One Word”
The “one word” can only be determined by first finding each of the three keys.
This is important, don’t waste time trying to figure out the “one word” until you have found the numbers using all three of the keys.
Each key has a word or a few words associated with it. When you decipher the keys these words (7 of them in total) will become obvious. From these 7 words the “one word” can be gleaned. There is a verse in the book that explains how. To find the verse look for a reference to the number seven.

1. How to solve the puzzle:
The nine numbers are presented in the book thee times, in three separate and distinct ways. It is helpful to think of them as Key One, Key Two and Key Three. The first key is simple and very visual; it exists in and of itself with no further decoding required. The second and third keys are more cryptic; with these clues the nine numbers are presented in a sort of code. Directions and clues for finding the coded numbers are in the verses contained in the book.
Key One,
Key Two,
Key Three,
the Order Of The Numbers, or
the “One Word.”
