52. Key Two and the correct “Order of the Numbers”

Still not sure?  Each painting that depicts butterflies, has one western butterfly, It is the butterfly that is located furthest to the left (west) side of the painting.  Draw a line straight down (south) from each butterfly until the line intersects with one letter from the title of the painting. This will leave you with nine letters.

Put the letters in order by forming a word. Using the English language, there is only one possible nine letter word.
once you have the word, convert it to numbers using basic numerology; a=1, b=2, c=3 and so on. This leaves you with nine numbers in the correct order.

49. The “One Word”

It is a seven letter word. In order to determine the “one word” you will need the defining words from each key, there will be a total of seven words.

Key One has two defining words... see clue #14
Key Two has one defining word..it was the word used to determine the order of the numbers.

That leaves four words...  Key Three will have four defining words.

38. Key One

If you haven’t got it yet, try the tracing paper trick:
Lay an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of tracing paper over the START HERE page.
mark an X on the butterfly.
Place the tracing paper on top of other pages in the book until you come to a page that has a string of nine numbers following the X.
or just take the tracing paper directly to the page that the Boy Traveler indicates.

The next 9 numbers following the X will be the correct numbers (just remember that they are still in the wrong order).

Thank-you to everyone so far, for submitting your guesses and for so many of you who have shared your line of thinking/puzzling with me.

Very Close!!

Over the past couple of weeks I have received many good guesses and just recently I have a few that are VERY CLOSE!

At this point, the clues that I have released are enough to reveal the answer if you are looking closely! I will continue to post increasingly revealing clues, one or more a day, until the answer is spelled out. By the first week in September I will have released all the clues, 58 clues total.

Remember, you are limited to one guess per day (24 hours) so make it count!

The winner's name will be announced from Gallery One in Nashville during my September 7th opening. Good Luck to everyone and thank you for all the wonderful e-mails -Maggie

Questions answered

My question is about Key Two, or the nine letter word. Is this word in the book somewhere?
Technically no, the path to the word is in the book.

Lastly, and again, about the nine letter word in Key Two, does it appear in the book as one word?
Again, technically no, the path to the word is in the book.

28. Key Three

Xs 2...what does this mean?  It means times two.
Specifically, The last two ______s of the first two ________s occurs in the book twice

More Questions!

1.) One of your clues was that tracing paper would help with Key One. Would tracing paper also help with Key Two? If not, then maybe I am on the wrong track...It would be a stretch to say that tracing paper is useful for Key Two, but it is possible.

2.) You said that your numerology uses no zeroes. Does it use nines? It seems that the two most common forms are Pythagorean Numerology and Chaldean Numerology. One uses nines and one does not. Yes, the numerology chart that I use does have nines.

3.) You said that "Nimble" was important, and the clues were in the painting itself and the surrounding page. Could you give a hint on which Key "Nimble" will help us to solve? Key Two

4.) Back to the tracing paper...When we use the tracing paper, are we to line it up page with page, or art work to art work, or just trace an object and over-lay that on top of some other thing? I've tried tracing several things (ie "Boy Traveler", the horse in "Nimble", The horses in "The Ties that Bind"), but nothing seems to line up bang-on. Page to page.

17. Key Three

The hidden message next to The Wooden Boat will give you your first clue.

16. Key Three

This one is not a visual clue, it’s all about words.

14. Key Two and Key Three

Look for things in the book that occur nine times.

Q&A

Q.  Ive been trying to find the numbers on the boy traveler page. I tried tracing butterflys from other pages and placing it on top of that page... Then I used a flashlight to try to see numbers in various spots from the butterflys. Are the numbers going to be obvious when I find them, or is it going to require flashlights and mirrors, etc. I can't tell if I'm seeing numbers or if it's just the pattern of the ink on the paper..

A. The numbers will be obvious… No flashlight needed.

13. Key One..Extra

There are only two words associated with this Key (written in all capital letters just before the butterfly). These are two of the seven words that will be used to determine the “One Word.”

12. A Confusion of Words

Many of the clues refer to “a word,” “one word” or “words” and this can become confusing.

There is the “one word” that is part of the final solution. It is a seven letter word, derived from seven words that are associated with the 3 keys.

One of those seven words will also determine the order of the numbers..see clue #3

11. Key One

“Start Here.”   Where exactly? At the butterfly, exactly.

Friday, August 2, 2013

10. Key One

No code or deciphering is needed here... the string of nine numbers are printed right on the page....which page? refer to clue number 7.
note: the picture here is just for decoration and has nothing to do with the clue

9. Key One

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

8. Key One

This clue is both visual and spacial. Pay attention to where things are on the page.

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

7. Key One

The Boy traveler will point you in the right direction.

a clarifying note about clues 4 and 5; the accompanying pictures are just for decoration and not part of the clue!

Monday, July 29, 2013

6. Key One

The first verbal instructions are on the page facing Everyday Wishes. These very pointed instructions are at the heart of Key number One and will only make sense with information from another page in the book.

Sunday, July 28, 2013

5. Key Two and Key Three

Both of these keys present the nine numbers in a code, to decipher the code you will need to use a basic numerology concept that assigns a number to every letter of the alphabet.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Friday, July 26, 2013

4. The Keys

To find the nine numbers, look in the book for things that occur nine times. Several distinct things in the book occur nine times and can easily be translated into numbers. Not all of these occurrences will lead to the correct nine numbers.
Because the correct numbers occur 3 times, you will know that you are on the right track when you come up with the same nine numbers 2 or 3 different ways.

Thursday, July 25, 2013

3.The Order of the Numbers

The numbers are never presented in the correct order. When carefully considered, the code in one of the keys will reveal the correct order for the nine numbers.

Which key? To determine this you must first find the hidden message on the page facing Before the Storm (the Calm).

Next, look for a verse with two hidden messages, one in grey and the other in red. Discard the red message, it is a distraction. The message in grey is the one that matters.  Together, these messages tells you what’s needed to know to put the numbers in the correct order.

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

2. “The One Word”

The “one word” can only be determined by first finding each of the three keys.
This is important, don’t waste time trying to figure out the “one word” until you have found the numbers using all three of the keys.
Each key has a word or a few words associated with it. When you decipher the keys these words (7 of them in total) will become obvious. From these 7 words the “one word” can be gleaned. There is a verse in the book that explains how. To find the verse look for a reference to the number seven.

1. How to solve the puzzle:

The nine numbers are presented in the book thee times, in three separate and distinct ways. It is helpful to think of them as Key One, Key Two and Key Three. The first key is simple and very visual; it exists in and of itself with no further decoding required. The second and third keys are more cryptic; with these clues the  nine numbers are presented in a sort of code. Directions and clues for finding the coded numbers are in the verses contained in the book.

I recommend keeping notes, you will need to find all three keys in the book because that will lead you to the “one word,” that is part of the solution. Each clue will refer to one of these 5 things;
Key One,
Key Two,
Key Three,
the Order Of The Numbers, or
the “One Word.”
